To me, food should be yummy. Most American food fails that test. Nutrition is important but comes in second to yummy

There's another level to that too. Whether you spell it donut or doughnuts, the best ones have jam in - or jelly if you're American. I accept that real/fresh cream donuts made a nice change, and I don't really mind if it's raspberry, strawberry or blueberry.

But glazed, maple, hundreds and thousands, icing, chocolate, Boston cream (not even real cream), lemon....no, just no. Totally ruins them.

It might be yummy on other cakes, just not donuts. It should be illegal

The jam ones are the good ones. Wiki says - In English-speaking countries, Berliners are a type of doughnut usually filled with jam, jelly, custard, or whipped cream.
Superstore used to sell lovely ones but they seem to have gone the American way now with the chocolate and the glazes. Although their apple fritter ones are okay - way too much cinnamon on the last ones we had - and t he Dutchies are not bad.

Sometimes I can get the Paczki ones but they're like the ones that are past their dates even when they're not.

These mini ones are good but there's only two bites per donut
