No, that wouldn’t fly up here in the North Country. Just twenty-five miles from Canada - passive aggressive, old fashioned courtesy is the norm around here. I assume he would allow them to take the toilets away, then replace them with new ones.

Re: WTF in America
This seems to fit here, it's WTF and it's America. At risk of mixing metaphors, definitely a bit of the pot calling the kettle black going on.

Re: WTF in America
Trader Joe's is now pushing back on the 'name change' initiative. Good for them.
For those not familiar with the issue, Trader Joe's Italian Pizza is branded as "Trader Giotti's". Trader Joe's Mexican foods are labeled as "Trader Jose's". Trader Joe's Chinese foods are labeled as 'Trader Ming's" ... and so on. Recently some stupid kid started an online petition suggesting that these labels are racist. Initially, TJ's sounded like it was going to cave in but I just saw an article where they are defending their product names.

The petition posted on change.org by a high school student claims the names create “a narrative of exoticism that perpetuates harmful stereotypes.”
On what planet is "Trader Jose's" racist ...? What is 'exotic' about "Trader Jose's"?
There's now a counter-petition on Change.org ...

On a similar vein, though, I do find some of this dumbed-down exoticism cringe-inducing. For instance, Chinese restaurants that have their name in English, but in vaguely “Chinese looking” characters. Same with some Jewish themed businesses, with the name written in Hebrew-looking characters.

Re: WTF in America
Ok...Now you're just looking for stuff to get upset about. My wife does that sometimes, talkin about everything that is wrong around her and the problems of day... When she gets in that mood and reels off 10 negative things in a row, I always say "yeah, but it's a beautiful day" and she knows that's code for STFU.
But to answer your point, I’m NOT one of those people who looks for things to get upset about.

Re: WTF in America
And why don't you wait until the mosquitoes and deer flies to actually become wicked before you complain about them? Your husband will appreciate me asking you that question-
