I forgot about San Francisco. Colorful is a good way to describe the DTES in Vancouver. It's not overly violent, but you have to be careful and keep your guard up, if someone sees an opportunity to steal they will, one big thing here is some will ride a bike and as they pass grab your phone, best to not have your phone out in this area, crime of opportunity is rampant, but violence towards the general public is pretty low.

Road rage or not, what kind of person shoots their gun off in public midday, and he had kids in his car, yes the truck was out of line, but shooting a gun off like that is not acceptable behavior.

Shooting of gun at 6:20 mark. I feel bad for the kids who are in the car, one of many reasons the general public doesn't need to be carrying guns in public.

The guy was apparently pretending to be a police officer and had his car equipped with emergency equipment.

He is awaiting sentencing, appears to been charged with shooting from a car, child abuse and using unauthorized emergency equipment

If your community (in the US) is near an interstate or port, and/or has issues with poverty, unemployment, and post-industrial decline, and/or is near a run down urban area, or is/ is near a rural area with few employment prospects, and/or has significant Asian, black, or Hispanic minorities, then your community has a major drug issue.

As does Canada. We have a fairly significant drug problem in Vancouver, and its supposedly a city that offers opportunity with low unemployment, but we have a very severe drug problem and extreme poverty. Last I heard Vancouver region is home to both the poorest and wealthiest postal codes in Canada.

I am not even surprised anymore when I see someone smoking a crack pipe outside our building, just the norm these days, don't leave a nickel or dime or even an empty soda can in your car and park it outside, chances are your window will get smashed. Our building gets broken into on a semi-regular basis, luckily our rent hasn't been hit, and we don't even live in a run down building, average rent in this building is pushing 3,000 a month now, although we pay less since we moved in 3 years ago.

Try that here (away from big cities) and you'll probably get shot, which is why there is relatively little burglary here.

Luckily the 93 year old only caused grazing wounds on the man he shot, man shot was released from hospital and injuries not life threatening. 93 year old man has been charged with attempted murder. Apparently the argument was over some sort of maintenance issue at the apartment complex he lived.

No, I don't know the people involved. Sparks is a bit misleading, the location is Vegas.

This is the sort of action my mum would take if she were tooled up. Grazing wounds only, mind.

I suppose. I was standing in front of the Hotel de Paris, in Cromer, Norfolk yesterday and looking at the horizon. I thought, the earth must be round. What’s this guy’s story? Too late to ask him now, though.
