If it was stuck in the ground and he backed into it, how did the pointy end end up in his lung?

Re: WTF in America
Common injury shown on Casualty, someone falling onto a javelin - never being skewered by a thrown one. Sometimes they'd fake you out by showing the javelin PE lesson but the injury is caused by a rogue discus. "Guess the injury" was always the best part of Casualty.

Re: WTF in America
I was a bit surprised it was in Bel Air, and the LA times article is a little interesting.
He isn't in trouble for having 1,000 guns though, that isn't illegal under any law, he only got in trouble for selling/possessing illegal guns as some in his stock are not legal under state or federal law. https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/...509-story.html (forgot to quote the post above, this is a reply to the original.) |

https://pluralist.com/teacher-decide...taff-bathroom/
According to the lawsuit, in April 2018, the teacher at Nellie Muir Elementary School became concerned that the 8 year old was using the staff restroom. Assuming he must secretly identify as female, she allegedly developed a lesson plan “in an effort to promote [him] becoming transgender.†In reality, the boy and his parents had arranged for him to use the staff restroom because he had a digestion-related medical condition. Yet on at least three occasions, the teacher kept the boy during recess and showed him videos and books with the message that “it is acceptably to become transgender, the lawsuit said. She allegedly required him to watch episodes of the reality TV show “I Am Jazz†and read the “I Am Jazz†children’s book, both of which star transgender girl Jazz Jennings. |

Ah well, no one's ever said that the world's idiots can't include members of the teaching profession!
Speaking of which, my good lady pointed out that the state now allows her to carry a gun in the classroom but that peanuts are banned! |

Monsanto must pay couple $2bn in largest verdict yet over cancer claims
https://www.theguardian.com/business...roundup-couple The plaintiffs’ attorneys estimate that there are now 13,400 similar Roundup cancer cases pending in state and federal courts in the US. I realise it will go to appeal but this sort of award even if it will never be paid is a WTF. |
