Re: WTF in America
Called one of those quaintly labelled 'customer service' numbers this morning.
During the proceedings the A.I. asked a question and I had to reply Yes or No.
I replied 'Yes'!
And then it asked, 'Was that a Yes?'

Re: WTF in America
Aye ah did 'n that.
Anyway, neighbours Christmas decorations...they're still up on the roof and fence.
Young couple, not the most sophisticated.
For some reason they also have a 6 foot, lighted, Eiffel tower decoration in their front 'yard'.
They haven't been outside the US.
They have no interest in France.
I reckon it was a cheap buy at the last minute from Decorations'R'US.
Drove us nuts over the holidays as they had a series of muzak Christmas songs playing outside every evening on repeat.
Just loud enough that the neighbours would hear it outside their house, and they would not inside their house
They also bought a device which project fireworks onto the side of their house and played loud firework sounds.
On repeat.
Alongside the Christmas music.
And when they went to stay with the parents for four days.
They left it on!

Re: WTF in America
That wouldn't solve the problem and the street would be full of flashing blue lights.

Do they still have the late night tv program showing all the inmates released that day, and what they'd been convicted of and which neighbourhoods they lived in? It's pretty hard-boiled.

Re: WTF in America
Better than that, many local media post a slide show every few days of mug shots of recent arrests, which is the usual array of drunks, wife beaters, meth users, and petty felons.

Re: WTF in America
Sounds like the show. They looked pretty rough, and a lot were in my sister's neighbourhood. I live in North Central Regina, made infamous through a bad magazine as Canada's Worst Neighbourhood, and I didn't feel safe in the daytime just a few blocks outside the gates of the trailer park. My first clue was on the ride in, on seeing quite a few bail bond businesses along the main roads.
