Sort of like BREXIT?

I will be celebrating on the 24th August as usual.

how is it unusual? it is not celebrated or emphasized in regular school history.

I do not have a problem with as you prompted, i have an interest to find out opinions.

Sounds like you don't believe in learning outside of school. You have obviously never been in Wales on St David's Day or come across St Patrick's Day or wondered why the French make such an occasion of the 14th of July. Just because the English don't really celebrate their own national day, doesn't mean that other countries can't do so on theirs.

the British are not tyrannts, perhaps the government / monarchy were, people refer to the British on this day, it should be the British governent. We are mostly the same as any other god fearing hard working population (outside of parliment at least).

I have travelled a lot of countries over 25 in fact and noted that countries without democracy and good taxation tend to be almost 3rd world with poor infrastructure and dirty city's, problems with a poor population. it has given me a perspective that tax conntributes to control infrastructure and does more good than harm.

All men are created equal , thats what they wanted you to hear / refer to other posters comment / slavery.
it seems like those with money and weapons controlled those without and thats how life was.

was the civil war about tax or slavery?.

i did not say countries could not celebrate indepenence , again which you are prompting.
No i did not learn history outside of school i always preffered physics and math, history and politics never made any sense to me i studied other things outside of school (things with formulas). the question was if the reason for becoming an independent of 'rule' country was for a reason of taxation it seems to me like they get taxed more, could you try to keep on topic?
the other poster noted that it was for a number of reasons other than unrepresented taxation so i am learning.

The Royal Navy was stopping American shipping and press-ganging sailors; that was another reason. The dramatic impact of throwing tea in Boston harbour may have something to do with taxation being better known.

In addition to that, the British sunk the USS Maine in Havana Harbour.

Wait.. what? Are you trolling, Robin?

USS Maine blew up and sank more than 120 years after independence, three decades after the civil war, and was seen by some as a trigger for the escalation of hostilities in the Spanish-American war of 1898, even though most now agree the ship's demise was caused by a fire on board rather than by a Spanish mine. The Brits were not involved, on this occasion.

I thought it was a factor leading to the Revolutionary War as well.
Poseidon’s Curse: British Naval Impressment and Atlantic Origins of the American Revolution | Reviews in History
"As it turns out, beginning in 1775 the British navy compelled any seaman found on American merchant ships into the navy, while treating most privateersmen and mariners aboard ships of war first as pirates and then as something akin to prisoners of war to be incarcerated either for exchange or for the duration. You know what kicked off the Revolutionary War? The British trying to seize privately owned firearms from colonists. Lexington. Paul Revere. The British are coming!

I still don't understand things here in GA. You can't buy a firework, but don't you dare regulate this grenade launcher that I just purchased - that would be socialism!

Look up the Barbary slave trade. White Europeans were captured and sold by slavers. They even grabbed them from the UK and Ireland.

Wow. How much did it cost to get your Destructive Device from the ATF? I believe grenades are $1000.
