Suppose if all you know is full service, a change like this can be difficult...
Nice to know, now I know to stop in the rural areas of Oregon on my trip so I can pump my own gas.
We have 2 city's in metro Vancouver,BC that require full service (Vancouver itself doesn't) as a job creation scheme, but otherwise we are all self serve.

What gets me is that people from States that have self service make such a big deal about how we do it. Who cares, either way it is hardly a life changing event.

You should come to Oregon. We have stores who will take the cart around the store for you. Pick your groceries from a list, and then either bring it out to your car, or deliver it to your house.

Seems mad to me. I have pumped gas for her in PA, but she's frightened to try it herself....
(She justifies it by saying prices are higher in PA than NJ, but that doesn't take into account the hour-long round trip to buy NJ gasoline!)Our state like most does not mandate full service, but not so far from me there's one gas station right off a major interstate that's ALL self-service. Seems a nasty trick on those who run low on fuel on that motorway....
