While the story is shocking, the headline is misleading, as the "victim" drew his gun first, and the firefighter reacted. ..... That said when I go out mowing or doing yard work, it had never occurred to me that I should be "tooled up".

Where are you getting "victim" from? I don't see that in print or implied in the headline or the article. Weigle may still be charged, provided he's still living. Given the history of the feud between these guys they've probably been tooled up every day since the stabbing 8 years ago.

That was the reason that I put "victim" in inverted commas - I was playing off the headline which implies that the firefighter is the bad guy. And a victim doesn't have to be dead.
