WTF in America

5 schools, they're not big.
It's bonkers, because the district has lost a fair bit of funding, we're still paying $150K for a sports director when that's realistically only needed as a part time position (chap who retired admitted it was bonkers). We're not Boston but it also wasn't hard to find candidates, even when a salary wasn't announced, they had 40 applicants make the first round.
Contrast to the library and the town offered $35K.

I think education is an afterthought for most counties/districts. Those at the top of the food chain seem to be paid stupidly high amounts whilst teaching and admin staff get the peanuts left over. My wife's education board agreed the annual contract for their 2500 teachers only a few weeks ago... for the year starting August 2016, 3rd consecutive year without a rise instead 'gifting' all teachers a $350 pre-tax 'bonus' which didn't even cover half the hike in this year's annual healthcare cost.
My good lady is one of the five longest serving teachers in the county...and still has a few more birthdays till her 50th, the profession just can't retain staff at the pittance it offers!!

I'm doing some consulting right now for a very small public school district in the bay area; I just looked up the salary for the superintendent; in 2015 she made $200k salary, plus $35k benefits.
ETA: I just looked up the same info for the local school district where I live, which is quite large; superintendent gets a salary of $225k in 2015.
This site has lotso salary info for CA public jobs! http://transparentcalifornia.com/

It's only hair, it'll grow back and in the meantime she could have got a wig for prom. She doesn't have to worry now though. About prom I mean.

Re: WTF in America
Weird that she waited outside in her car for four hours until the hairdresser finished work and walked out. You'd have thought the heat of the moment would have begun to dissipate by then?
