WTF in America

Re: WTF in America
Personally I don't get the "free speech" argument. They can stand in the road and hand out flyers, but tossing things in my driveway or hanging them on my door is a littering issue. I don't believe that the founding fathers passed the first amendment to allow the unfettered distribution of advertising flyers, free newspapers, and unwanted/ unneccessary phone directories.!

The "stupid little rocks" in its sealed plastic bag one is so patently absurd/ useless /dumb
The best one I ever got (seriously speaking..is that allowed?) was from Sothebys Realtors (wouldn't you know).
It was a bottle opener thig-a-ma-jiggy rubber(?) pad that opens stuck bottle tops. And it works!

Ditto. Waiting in line at some chain stores and they call out "Next guest please" , I feel like lashing out!

Somewhat. It is certainly a status symbol in the black community for women to have styled hair. The problem they have is that typically their hair is completely impossible to style, at least into styles that women of other races have. So the answers are either extremely time consuming mini plaits or "corn rows", the application of some very aggressive chemical "relaxers", and/or the very time consuming addition of "weaves", which can also be very expansive for a good quality natural hair weave.
The ultimate answer is sometimes just a wig, which again can be extremely expensive for the best quality ones. The irony is that unlike most wig buyers who have lost some or all of their hair due to old age or medical treatments e.g. chemotherapy, the goal is to have a wig that does not look like their natural hair.

So most black women and Dominicans and PR's end up not washing their hair for long periods in order to conserve their style and their heads end up smelling. Maybe most people wouldn't notice but I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell. I come across smelly heads on a daily basis on elevators, escalators, on public transport, in offices. A greasy and sour smell. It's horrible. Sometimes with the strongest of stinks I contemplate telling the poor girl in the politest possible way, thinking they are not aware. But I've never done it.
I never cam across this stink in the UK. It's not a pet peeve of mine though it disgusts me, but something I've ever only encountered in this country.

I think it's a great shame that some black women do not consider their hair to be beautiful. Personally I think the Tyra Banks/ Beyonce look is jarring.

I find the natural afro look very pretty though its rare to see it.
