WTF in America

Re: WTF in America
I'm not sure if someone has posted this before (despite many years of lurking, I can't recall seeing it mentioned): What is up with the weird cutlery skills in America? I.e. fork in the right hand, hacking at something with a knife and then switching hands. As Dlake02 mentioned in his 'post' today, eating like a JCB, a very apt analogy, the way that food is scooped / shoveled.
I can not get to grip with the american way of cutting all food into small pieces and then just using a fork, my mother did that for me before i could use cutlery. When i use chop sticks that just freaks them

Re: WTF in America
BabyChog is still at the stage where she thinks cutlery is an optional extra, and usually she stabs something with her fork and then takes it off the tines with her fingers to cram in her mouth manually anyway. She still has better table manners than half the Americans we know.

Re: WTF in America
We often see restaurant tables strewn with half-eaten meals, spillages, and food and napkins scattered across the table and onto the floor. It looks like pigs have been eating at the table. It is disgusting.

Re: WTF in America
One fish restaurant i have used here does not even supply a knife at table, just a fork.

Re: WTF in America
On her first (and only) visit to McDonalds my dear old Mam was horrified to find that they didn't have knives or forks!

Asians use sticks. How unrefined.
Indians use their fingers. Animals
And the yanks don't ever eat food that requires silverware.
Good job we're above all that.

Re: WTF in America
I've never even given the proper use of cutlery any thought as long as I'm not sloppy...

Seriously though, PC be ****ed, a bunch of people sticking their hands which could have been up their arse moments before in a shared bowl is ****ing rank, whatever your argument was supposed to be.
