Re: WTF in America
What? You can be expelled from a public school for refusing to participate in the pledge?

Texas no surprise.
While my school in the 80's and 90's performed the pledge over loud speaker each morning, none of the 3 schools I attended required students to recite it or stand, it was optional.
Seemed most students in elementary school would recite it, by middle school in 7th grade I recall very few students reciting it, neither the schools or teachers said anything, I probably sat the pledge out more then I recited it, I was a bit of a rebel in elementary school, never got
Idiotic this school and the state think expelling this student is acceptable.

If ever there were two words that didn't belong together, those words are 'pickle' and 'cheesecake'.

Re: WTF in America
If a group of people are shot, how do they decide it's not a 'mass' shooting? What's the criteria? If a serial killer becomes serial because they've murdered three or more people surely shooting seven plus must be mass or am I being simple???????

Re: WTF in America
I'm guessing that their reasoning is that no one died or looks likely to, but to my mind that still makes it a mass shooting, just not mass murder. Maybe those of us who don't have to confront this on a daily basis feel diffferently.

Re: WTF in America
Mass shootingA mass shooting is an incident involving multiple victims of firearms-related violence. The United States' Congressional Research Service acknowledges that there is not a broadly accepted definition, and defines a "public mass shooting" as one in which four or more people selected indiscriminately, not including the perpetrator, are killed, echoing the FBI definition of the term "mass murder".More at Wikipedia

The replies to the police Twitter stating it wasn't a mass shooting were interesting.

I had friends who used to put tamari sauce on popcorn, and it was pretty good.
