Could we please come to a consensus regarding tinned tomatoes ? I don't like them on a breakfast and always ask for fresh, that's primarily because of the salt content and it can make for a watery breakfast .... i have seen some photo's posted showing sausages of dubious quality also and this is also seems worth commenting on.

I am over in the UK, ( Manchester ) for awhile so I have had the opportunity to have quite a few , " full English's " just lately. I have almost the perfect place around the corner, it's £3.00 for the small and $4.00 for the big, ( includes tea and toast ). I say almost perfect because the sausages are really not up to par. ( taste cheap and bready ) I am tempted to go in with my own and ask them to cook them but I don't want to offend them, how would you deal with this situation ? I do realize this keeps the cost down but to be honest I'd rather pay a bit more and get the quality. My only other convenient choice is Weatherspoons, and I just don't feel comfortable being in a pub at 8am.

Coastie.

And you call yourself British.

I'm with you all the way on tinned tomatoes and cheap "bready" sausages. I like fried fresh tomatoes with a "full English", and a good quality sausage, perhaps a Lincolnshire or another one seasoned with herbs.

It's much cheaper to buy a gallon can of tomatoes than to buy fresh tomatoes and requires a lot less labor to prepare. Sausages can be double or triple the price depending on what it contains.

Not really. They presumably have decided their price point and ingredients are related to that.

Of course they could use more expensive ingredients. But presumably they don't think their customers would be willing to pay the price.

Coastie.
We were in our local Wetherspoon's for breakfast this morning. You can have coffee or tea with your cooked breakfast (personally I like the breakfast wrap), you don't have to start your day with booze

It saddens me when I go in for an early morning Wetherspoons brekkie and the old men are already in there, propping up the bar with their first pint of the day. Shouldn't be allowed having to watch that whilst trying to eat a full English
