Should we be punishing people that had nothing to do with the crime?

To deter people from doing it and to make people regret if they do, yeah maybe we should. Getting rid of hanging worse thing we ever done.

Would you have a lottery to determine which person gets punished for the crime they did not commit?

It would never happen too barbaric but I think it should be life meaning life for murder or manslaughter which it isn't in this country. Way too liberal over here. Killing someone in america wrecks your life. In england not so much. Do you not think maybe it should?

Missed out a word. But do you think being sentenced to 2 years in jail for killing someone as people have been wrecks your life?. I hardly think it does it. The english justice system is a joke. In america they do it right lock up you and throw away the key.

It could... depending on whether or not they're gang raped in prison. I'd support any system where violent offenders in prison are, themselves, the victim of violence - preferably on a daily basis by people who have nothing whatsoever to lose! But... y'know - that's just me!

I could be wrong but perhaps mothers-in-law would be prime choice

I agree entirely with your statement Ian but english jails are not like that. The time you spend in jail ruins your life not a conviction. 2 or 3 years which means 18 months you serve half ain't wrecking no ones life. My son was an intern 11 or so years and there were apparently brits with really serious records living in new york in his day including people who killed people and lied to get in the country. If they were living with what they had done they wouldn't have lied to get in would they? They would accepted that they couldn't.

Being the chosen one of Bubba in the shower room on a daily basis seems to be pretty normal in many US prisons.
