Where do I buy nice clothes?

Ok, its me again with my questions. Ladies, or gents, where do I buy nice ladies' dresses? I mean, you know, for hot weather. At home I would shop in Monsoon, Oasis or Debenhams for casual, pretty things.

Is there a US equivalent?

I know Monsoon deliver to the USA but I like to try on etc...

So far I have done a bit of retail therapy. I find that the clothes shops are either really frumpy or really expensive! I am not a size zero, nor am I seven feet tall. I dont wear T-shirts with "Texas Longhorns" emblazoned on the front, nor do I really wear shorts.

I like the Monsoon, ethnic kinda look.

Help!?!

Have you tried Target? Good quality/price for decent looking casual cothes.

Also, if there's a TJ Maxx or similar place near you?

I've been looking for dresses but they seem to be out of fashion at the moment. I'd say shorts are more popular here. I did get a Converse Dress in Target. 'Free People' is a bit like Monsoon but on the pricey side.

Ross! Yes, couldn't think of the name but yes. I hit the jackpot there some years ago.

Macy's, JC Penny, Cato, Target, Coldwater Creek, Eddie Bauer, Dillards, Old Navy, Anthropologie - unfortunately all these stores have their fair share of weird and wonderful stuff so you do have to have a good rake around. There's a nice store upstairs in the Galleria but I can't remember it's name right now - I'll let you know if I remember :)

I got a Native American clothes catalog, and kiddo that's pretty darn ethnic, :)

TJ Maxx or Marshall's; if you are into ethnic styles, Google for local stores/boutiques that carry Mexican or Indian gauzey skirts and tops, rather than department stores.

I've noted that a lot of clothing stores are very specific to build and demographic so if you want a specific size range you have to be in the right shop or you will be disappointed, e.g. Lane Bryant for the fuller figure.

I've also noted that for us slim European gents with no beer gut and no big fat ass, lots of pants and shirts have shall we say, extra material.

I suppose if you shop at Big and Tall you'd find that. But my slimmish British husband has no beer gut and a fine ass, and doesn't have issues with "extra material" Are you shaped like a female?

pfft. My wife is always complaining that the seat of jeans just don't look right on me. I have quite long arms so to get a good fit on a shirt means a tent like feeling sometimes. Shrug, I dunno I hate clothes shopping.
