I think there's some confusion here between being ill-educated or unintelligent, and belonging to a social "class."
Intelligence, morals, values..... surely these matter more than whether or not one lives in a trailer and owns five bloodhounds?

When I was growing up, I was bona fide white trash... Lived in the trailer park, parents on speed and a few broke-down cars out front.Here's proof... Despite my trashy roots I find many people get a completely different perception of me after meeting me or talking to me, so perhaps putting a lot of weight in social status is a mistake...
