Our thought when we came up with a name is that the kid will hopefully be a adult a lot longer than they will be a cute kid and there's nothing more embarrassing that being introduced to someone like your banker to hear they've got some twonky kids name

I think Rowan is pretty much accepted as a girls' and boys' name now. Rowena (with a long e) is a different name.

Or better yet, purple haze.

I must say that I'm bemused when little Matthew - with his pre-decorated nursery - arrives as a little Mary.

As I'm the one in the room at the time, I've learned to hide my feeling

Born in the late 70's when Ashley was usually only given to males, then it came into vougue in the 90's to name girls or boys Ashley, then I moved to the US where I am told it is a girl only name (even though it was used as the name for one of the lead roles in Gone with the wind).

Any US boy with name Ashley would have to grow up quick and tough. Reminds me of the Johnny Cash son " a boy named Sue"

True, but he was named about 100 years ago. Things change. I was not being critical of your name, just that in the US that I know it would not be in a boy's best interest to be so named.

Oh I know, as I said when I was a kid in the UK it was seen as a boys only name just pointing out how things change.

And that's why Aberdeen won't tell you the sex, just in case!
We found out the sex both times. First time we have a private 4d scan which was pretty cool. Helped Mr Weeze be a bit more part of it.
Second time they told me at one of the many repeated heart scans. They also confirmed each time, just to make sure!
