I'm off on my tour of duty next week (visiting the oldies in the UK) so while the cat's away........him indoors is off to Long Beach to visit a Brit friend of ours who's having a tough time right now.

So, what's Long Beach like?

I like Long Beach, it feels like a small town . The Queen Mary is there which he might be interested in, and the acquarium which I'm sure he won't be interested in.

There are a few restaurants and bars around the harbor, which is nice to walk around.

I work in Long Beach. Some areas are nice like The Pike area down on the sea front. Lots of places to eat, bars, etc. Other parts of Long Beach can be not so nice.

LOL I am here on business at the moment, it's kinda nice, the marina is cool, I agree the Queen Mary is spectacular.

There are a few bars and clubs, tell him not to book the Hilton its a flippen long walk to the shops which are few and far between.

It's one of those places been there seen it done it BYEEE...

Not sure about the oldies, haven't noticed many around.

It's well worth a tour around the Queen Mary IMO. Last time I was there there was a huge dome next to it...inside was Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose...that was pretty cool. It's no longer in that location.

I swear we pass that every time we go that way instead of the 22 and I always want to stop and see it. One of these days I keep telling hubby.

I'm ashamed to say we haven't been yet, and I gave DH a day out there for his birthday.. can't get him to cash in and he is an airplane *freak*.
He's a workaholic. A retired workaholic.

We're going, as soon as school is back in and the rugrats aren't underfoot.

We go to the Boeing museum up here.....pretty cool, in fact a couple of years ago we bought a year's membership. There are tons of things to look at, definitely recommend it if you're a airplane "freak"
