Actually, my tolerance for alcohol has diminished over the years, and if I so much as sipped all the items on your list I'd probably have a hangover the size of a planet the next day.

These days, in order to avoid a debilitating hangover the next day, I have to stick to EITHER wine only, or beer only. If I mix the two, God Help Me! And don't even think about spirits, champagne ... . It's one of the few truly disappointing things about getting older; I don't know if it's because I over-indulged as a youth, or what - I drank bottles of gin as a youth with no apparent consequence ... so anyway, I focus on the food these days and pace myself with two or three beers or a couple of glasses of wine ... boring !

Trust me, it's not you. I used to well over indulge as a boy (though scotch or vodka rather than mothers' ruin), but these days I'm in the same boat that you are. I thnk it comes to us all, eventually.

"No, I couldn't find the head."

Told that one last night and couldn't get the punchline out because I was laughing so hard.

Roast beef is in the oven and smelling goooooooood....

We couldn't find parsnips anywhere though, so sadly our roast won't be complete.

Ugh parsnips. The only vegetable that can make me throw up from the smell of the peelings alone.

I am enjoying this afternoon. Mr Kins said to our neighbour this morning: 'I enjoy cooking but I don't get time because I work.'

Guess who has spent the afternoon cooking dinner

By the way, my Yule Log (Delia Smith recipe) refused to roll up so it is more of a Yule Mattress. It tastes delicious, just looks completely stupid.

Got so annoyed yesterday when I realised that Nestle chocolate chips do not melt, no matter what you do to them...

Roast beef in the oven as we speak. Yorkshire puddings already mixed and waiting to go in. Christmas pudding waiting to be steamed and brandy butter mixed and in the bowl. Enjoy.
