Ha!! I come from a 'bad area' (cant wait to get back of course lol) and even there rentals have been going up and up. Urban renewal is a biatch for the natives I'm afraid. Non the less, I reckon if you shop around and have a bag o' sand to throw at somone it shouldnt be to huge of a problem (fingers crossed). As we know these estate agents are a bunch of sharks generally. All the credit check means is that they get to prize an extra hundred from you for doing it - admin fees they call it
was looking at relocation agents charge 500 pounds to look for a place for yah then a month rent if they find the one u like!!!!! wha a rip off Then again my uncle does call the place rip off uk!!!! |

Whatever you do, do NOT pay 6 months in advance! If you end up in a dump, you are either stuck there for 6 months or looking at losing that 6 months rent. I once moved into a basement flat that looked fine when I was shown around, but after the first serious rainfall, I realized the back bedroom was under 2 inches of water that was seeping up through the floor from the terraced back garden. I wondered why it had brand new carpet in there. Under the carpet was a layer of polythene, presumably to hold back the damp long enough to find a sucker to rent it.
