I remember walking those three miles to school in the snow uphill, both ways.

Mines got air suspension on it. I can lower it when the rare occasion arises these days when I need something else bigger.

I live somewhere where having high ground clearance, big softish balloon tyres and lotsa horses matters, and i dont give a sh*t about air suspension either, its just another toy to go wrong, and make the owners appendage have variable length, something he should have been born with. Hard ars* cars minimise processors, variable anything and toys generally. What they have is bigness, big bearings, big tyres/wheels, big suspension and big power...

I would buy a Landy, but support for Landies seems limited here, also they're expensive and I think built in India.

Here its a south african built toyota hilux ot a thai isuzu d-max, americans cant buy either, they have to buy mexican toyotas which rust or fords which explode their gearboxes after 20k miles of real offroading. Gm trucks do survive but only some of them and not the arty super duper dodge jobs.

Landrovers are indeed junk now, one can buy a paris dakar bowler rebuild thats decent but horribly expensive.

No, still built in the UK. Expensive, yes. Service seems to be fairly straightforward.

Wrong, jaguar landrover was bought by tata india who moved production of the classic defender to pune before it ceased in 2014. Their flasher saloons and range rovers were made for a while in the uk but most production is now in china and korea where tata also own hyundai. There is still a range rover assembly plant in the uk but it makes kits for uk sale. Theres NOTHING straight foreward about a range rover or a jaguar these days, but then thats not unusual in that sector. If you want a british made car you can buy a german owned rolls royce or a german owned bentley or any number of exotic sports cars, morgan still exist. Minis [also german owned] are all made in the uk, as are a lot of nissans, all qashqai's i think.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover

I recenrly read an interview with mr tata who said he will move most things to india or china as its much cheaper, but walking before running is quoted which makes sense. However they have been laying off lots of uk workers....

That is correct.

That is not correct.

The rest of your post is a mix of overstatement, oversimplification, and things which aren't true yet, but might be in the future.
