If the OP waits around then the answer of how to wash a baseball cap might be to send it into space as Tide & NASA will begin trials to see if they can wash clothes in space.

I would imagine the shipping costs might be high but hey if it cleans the cap then money well spent.

You don't wash a baseball cap. You retire it.

Yes, we need to know so we can make more unhelpful suggestions.

For example, a stubborn grease stain can be removed with wd40, but then gettiing the wd40 out takes forever.

One evening Janet was moaning because of a stain on the elbow of a favourite blouse. She asked if Johnny knew how to get it out. When he calmly took a pair of scissors and removed it she hit the ceiling.

Hope you're managing to survive the inferno - and if so...)

It's time to CAP this thread.
Can think of no better way than before and after pix of the precious hat.

As an expert on washing machines, having both an agitator style top loader and a front loader, and being a clean freak, I would say a top loader will get it cleaner but is aggressvie.

WOW!
It's for real....I thought maybe you were pulling our leg.
The cleanest baseball cap in the country...

I like "the brownish discoloration"...lends a certain je ne sais quoi.
A patina

I hope your friend's hair is as clean and well tended as that which he'll be putting atop it.

OTOH....maybe you should keep this storied cap for yourself...I see it was (is?) 110 degrees in Portland today.
The brim might provide some relief if you have to venture out in the sun.

How are you surviving the inferno?

I have 109 on my garden sensor, which is on a window frame in the shade. Fortunately we had the heating and air conditioning renewed about 10 months ago. Inside the house is 76.

You've got AC !
Well that's a relief...I was concerned
Here in Southern California...it's a relatively frigid 79 degrees outside...75 inside.
Both of which I'm grateful for, as this house, built in the mid-twenties, doesn't have air conditioning.
