Van insurance
Hi hope someone might be able to help. My husband who is a new immigrant here and has been driving on an international licence for the last year and has now just received his British driver's licence is getting quoted double what he was with the international licence because the insurance companies are classing him as a new driver, despite the fact that he has driven here for the last year with no accidents. Has anyone out there got any experience with this and might be able to offer some advice. It seems crazy, we thought his premiums would go down not up since he has a clean record until, just all seems like a bit rip off! :(

Re: Van insurance
The US D/L is so easy i fail to understand why he does not already have a US D/L.
I am close friends with several police officers here and I can tell you with some authority the police do not recognize an I/D/L. .( I have one.)..unless of course the driver is a temporary visitor to the USA . His British D/L is only good for 90 days from his having a permanent residence....ie: an address in Texas ? before becoming subject to having a Texas D/L under Texas law. Some officers....those with no sense of humour, will arrest him if stopped and subject him to a search into his status. Make sure he always travels with his passport on him at all times to prove who he is. So, go to the TDPS and take the test. See this link: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/DriverL...ingtotexas.htm |
