Re: The USA BritExpat cyber DIAMOND JUBILEE STREET PARTY
We're off to England for a wedding in two weeks time.. slotting our visit in unobtrusively between the Jubilee weekend and the Olympics!
You can hold the chopped liver, I've gone off it. But I'll have a double helping of chopped herring if I may. I just got an email from Tesco's this morning, 25% off all champagne. I should bring a case or five of that to the street party.

I don't know, the English love their horseradish so if you provide enough of that, they'll eat the gefilte fish.

I will be going over to the UK tomorrow for my Dad's funeral, so I will be able to experience the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in person. I missed the Golden version, but was just a schoolkid in shorts for the Silver Jubilee.

Nobody's mentioned punk! That's what I remember from '77.

I'll make some scones. You'll have to make do with whipped heavy cream though instead of clotted cream. Oh, and cheap strawberry jam, none of this fruit bit rubbish.
I may stretch to some cucumber sandwiches if I can rope the 3 year old in.

I was just looking at my cup collection. I have one Queen's coronation cup, two cups of the Charles and Diana wedding, two cups Silver Jubilee, and one cup of Anne and Mark's wedding. Will buy a Diamond Jubilee cup in July when I'm over there. Since my mum died no one buys them for me. The two cup sets were meant for my children, but I kept them (for safety of course).

I've never found anything quite like the scary red glow in the dark jam we got at uni.
Mmmm, now that's jubilee food. Look at that gravy....
