Well we know it has never been a democracy, but an interesting paper confirming what I think most people know.

Would be interesting to see a similar study on the UK.

Study concludes that US streets are not, in fact, paved with gold.

Separate study speculates that it will get dark tonight.

A 3rd study confirms the conclusive speculation

In my opinion, there isn't a need for any study in just about any country. The rich (the businesses owners) always have a far greater influence then the public under the presumption that if business don't thrive, it hurts the public as a whole.

Even China, a communist country, went from 0 billionaires 30 years ago to 152 today only second in number to the US.

There was a mention on The Daily Show a week or so ago about a paper that Eric Holder wrote about basically giving 'Business Owners' a pass in circumstances where a non white collar crime would be treated very differently.

The original paper on the topic is here:

I think you are turning into me.

I'm not sure that this has not always been the case though. Crime committed by the poor has always been viewed and treated more harshly than crime committed by the wealthy, hasn't it?

A survey of BE members reveals that Boiler is unable or unwilling to use the quote feature on the BE bulletin board.

Further study is required to determine if he is inept, obtuse, or if he likes to play games leaving others to guess which post(s) he is responding to?

Not necessarily.

About 20-25 years ago, in one edition of the Brighton Evening Argus, there were two stories from the court reporter. A "radio ham" had been fined for an administrative offence related to the paperwork he was required to maintain on the usage of his station. Another person was given probation for assaulting someone with an iron bar!

You are like the Little Lion.

Providing one counter example does not disprove the general rule. He gets really annoyed when I tell him that.

The Divide: American Injustice in the Age of the Wealth Gap

In 2010, Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. warned that “mortgage-fraud crimes have reached crisis proportions.” He vowed bravely to fight back, but the Justice Department’s inspector general recently reported that, in fact, Holder’s department has made Wall Street crime its lowest priority and that, since 2009, the FBI has closed 747 mortgage-fraud cases with little or no investigation.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinio...d74_story.html

The interview I saw Taibbi give mentioned that Holder had written a paper actually saying the opposite, that basically such crimes should be given a pass for the greater good.

There was a sort of similar comment that Chinese crackdown on pervasive corruption would negatively impact GDP.

I was playing games with words, really, .... but I seem to have stumbled across a case of two negatives not making a positive, and it's made my head hurt thinking about it. I thinkit is to do with prove not necessarily being the opposite of disprove.

And yes, I was kind of agreeing with you, but just pointing out that what you said is not universally true. .... Anyhow, I think I'm off to take rest too - I see Boiler has quoted someone. All we need to do now is teach him how to quote a post from another BEer.
