Default Unemployment

Well, Covid 19 strikes again. I'm now unemployed. I am a PR and two months away from being eligible to apply for naturalization. Am I correct in saying I cannot claim any unemployment benefits?

No, you are perfectly entitled to claim unemployment.

Do your citizenship the first day you can. You never know what Trump has up his sleeve but once you are a citizen I don't think even Trump could revoke it.

You're fine. go ahead and then get those forms in for naturalization. Good luck and sorry to hear about your job.

Unemployment is paid for by the state from employers contributions.

Unfortunately, in Florida, its $275 for 12 weeks. My 12 weeks is nearly up, and FL has no plans on extending it despite what the Cares act says. I haven't even received the weekly $600 I'm supposed to.
