UK Passport Query
 
hello chaps. I’ve not been around for a while. Every time I came on here I would get a pop up from amazon saying I’d won a gift card! I digress..
Ive done a search but can’t find answer. I would like to go to Europe in August. Just for 10 days. My uk passport runs out 19 Jan 2019. I can’t for the life of me find out if I have to have more time left on it. Il have 5 months or so.
When I was recently in uk I got my passport photo taken but oh my. No way can I have it stuck on my new passport for 10 years.
Many ideas ?

Presuming you'll be only visiting EEA/EU countries then, no, you'll be fine.

oh oh I didn’t realize that. I thought I had to have 6 months. Either Blighty, France or Italy.

"Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay; you do not need any additional period of validity on your passport beyond this."

That being said you can renew your passport now and the remaining time on your current passport will be added to your new passport gratis.

HMPO is turning around them in a few days for renewals from the US. No problem for a trip in August.
