UK mobile number /sms divert to US cell
Does anyone know of a service that will give me a UK mobile number so that I can receive texts from my bank. I did have an EE phone for about 10 years, but I forgot to make the 6 month call and have now lost my number. I have contacted Capital One and they can only use UK mobile numbers for 2FA which is annoying to say the least.

Would something like this work?
That's a bummer about the 2FA...I don't know why they're so restrictive.

Citibank and HMRC allowed me to use a US cell number, fortunately. The same is true for US accounts, Wells Fargo only allows me to use US number for 2 FA.

I was wondering if something like that may work though...might be better deals around.
What's the outlook if you just say you don't have a UK number? I'm not sure what the process is..

I think without a UK mobile number I just am not able to do online banking. I can still do business via regular mail. That is a little less convenient.

You can get a UK number from Skype but it may be for calls only.

Unfortunately landlines only. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ca8ae43?auth=1
I still have a UK phone number through vonage that I have been thinking of cancelling for a while, but might just keep it now. This doesn't help the 2FA text message situation, even though you used to be able to send texts to landlines in the UK.

No, I would like to maintain a bank account in the UK if possible. It makes my life easier than having to convert UK source income immediately to USD.

I could do this, I did have a working UK SIM card until EE terminated my service last year. It had been working fine for 15 years. I have spoken to couple of friends back in the UK and similar things have happened to them. I think EE just wanted people off the old Orange contracts. One person I spoke to went on holiday and lost their phone number while on holiday, when they got back EE was unable to give them their old number back that they had for over 10 years.
I may just ask a family member if I can use their number, I was hoping there may have been an easy solution.
