Trucks... Who has what?

Re: Trucks... Who has what?
The truck bed will be used... and i just love trucks haha! Not going to lie, its probably going to be lifted a little and sit on some big ass wheels too
I like the cut of your jib... I do look at the Dodge and like it, but the Ram is the only truck i have ever driven and it did feel a little cheap i agree.
F350 must be a beast!
Anybody driven the Raptor? Or even better the Shelby version??

They’re also stupidly expensive so you’re not going to want to use it for anything other than parking in a lot with it all waxed and shiny.
Maybe the new ones are better, but I don’t have $60k for a base model or $70k for one with a few options to find out!

Here's a Raptor flying 90ft, landing, bending the frame and the airbags deploying.

So far I've owned a Chevvy Silverado Z71 which was great until gas went up to $5/ gallon in Alaska then it had to go. Also had a Chevvy Suburban, same frame as the truck but 8 seats and no truck bed, it suffered a serious case of Michigan tin worm so also had to go.
Enter the new kid on the block, GMC 2500 HD 3/4 ton, 8.1 liters of awesomeness, Allison transmission, flow-master pipes ... it drives like a beast and sounds like Thors pipes. It makes towing our 30ft camper a doddle, has room for a motorbike in the bed if needed and 3 dogs in the cabin. Yes it does 8mpg, 11mpg on a run but damn its fun !
Edited to add it isn't our daily driver, its a workhorse.

Re: Trucks... Who has what?
We have a Dodge Ram and as much as I love driving it I also hate parking it! But hey-ho, parking way out in all parking lots is good exercise!
We have often thought about not having a truck but after last year' hurricane and flooding it became our life line. At one point he had all our worldly goods in it that we were able to rescue. It really was our life saver.

Re: Trucks... Who has what?
There's quite a few Pinzgauers around here and the occasional Unimog.
My advice would be don't buy Ford or Chevy/GMC. Same with Dodge. Definitely don't buy a Cadillac. Avoid Toyota, Honda and Subaru like the plague. Land Rovers - very unreliable. Nissan is right out. No Isuzus, Mercedes, Infinitis, Lexus, Hyundais.
I would personally recommend, for your needs, a Haglunds BV206.
Very versatile and you can bring the entire soccer team and their equipment.

I've been following this thread with some interest. Daughter's in-laws live in rural Wisconsin. They own two cars. Their daily driver is a newish Prius. Their hauler is a "beater" 25 year old Dodge 4x4 with a camper shell.
Roger [the father-in-law] tells me that it is snow-tires that are most important.

2013 F150 XLT 3.5EB Supercrew 4x4. Daily Driver.
My first truck, and I won't own another car.
I do however look forward to the hybrids that Ford have planned for 2020.

Tundra V8 double cab abuser here.
People regularly compliment my workhorse, far more so than anyone did with the F150 double cab (that's the full size F150 cab versus the Toyota's mid size cab) which always surprises me with the stereotypical love for American trucks that the natives are supposed to have. The Tundra comes with Toyota's reputation for reliability and general bombproof qualities but the base model's interior is considerably more agricultural than the F150's base model. I do like the extra foot of bed that the smaller, but still generous, cab of the Toyota gives. The Toyota's chassis looks to be a lot more robust than the the F150's. Hard to compare power as the 5.0l Ford was chipped and the Toyota's smaller 4.6l isn't, yet...
The Ford was much smoother to drive and never felt like it would struggle, but I didn't get around to carrying too much heavy stuff in it, this weekend I loaded the Tundra down with a load of pavers and it felt a little sluggish and more reluctant to stop, although there was no noticeable difference in the steering and handling.
Nothing has failed on the Tundra, yet, had an issue with O2 sensors on the Ford and after all the grief my Sport Trac gave I was always a tad nervous that the transmission would give trouble.
Verdict: Tundra for doing what a truck's supposed to do, F150 if you want a bling-thing for the corporate car lot. My wife, who'd only owned trucks before I met her, is a Ford/Chevvy fan and wouldn't touch a GMC with a bargepole.

I have a 2001, 4x4 F150, which I bought in 2002, with 30,000 miles on it, and had been a state owned mostly interstate driven, and I prefer it to any car I have ever owned.

It has 30,000 on the clock at the moment? If so you must hate this time of year, regularly mowing the grass growing in it

Re: Trucks... Who has what?
Looks like its going to be a long ol day/weekend of trying to drive them all and this thread has now added the Toyota to my list too for sure. Don't get me wrong my idea always was big American truck, but my sensible/practical side will always be there telling me to go for the best option and not just some weird redneck American dream I have through listening to country music every day
