Top ten States article

Umm... http://britishexpats.com/articles/us...-quality-life/

New Hampshire

I agree, bit chilly though

Hawaii

If you can find a job and afford the cost of living (and it rains a lot)

Vermont

Really high taxes, NH makes more sense

Maine

Pretty chilly, transportation links aren't that great

Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota

Getting the impression this is an article designed to get people to move to places that are usually unpopular. Fair number of jobs going in North Dakota though.

Colorado/Wyoming/Utah

Colorado has plenty of nice places to live, everywhere in Utah is a bit isolated though (except St George), Wyoming is too cold and isolated, unless you really want to be a rancher. Even by Canadian standards Wyoming is cold.

A very odd article I thought.

Apparently quality of life requires mountains, cold, or remoteness, or some combination there of.

There's a mountain about an hour away, its been cold here for a few weeks and I'm in the house all alone. Wonder why Oregon wasn't on the list then.

I sometimes think some of the people who write articles on this site have less of a clue than those we think it would be good to start a new life in Florida, having been on holiday there for two weeks.

Well yes, then you click through to the website of the person who posted it and you see the connection. It's just click bait to fish for like minded Eastenders fans.

I like their retirees visa. You only need to invest $500,000 and you can spend the rest of your days in Florida. No mention of heath care in their list of things to consider.

They won't need health cover. ...the opportunity to escape the European winter and live in a climate which helps them to remain active and healthy for longer.

Also money won't be a problem due to the lower cost of living, enabling them to enjoy a high quality of life.

NH has really high property taxes though....and most of those states have a serious lack of jobs.

ME/NH/VT, for the most part also means you have to drive loads to get anywhere and get anything done, with very little public transport to get you about. Sure, cities like Portland and Bangor have a bus system, but hard to get around outside of the downtown areas...and those winters, for a retired folk, awesome.

yeah, that's true....but those boony states take it to the extreme :D

I mean, Walmart are everywhere, but we still had to drive 40 mins to the nearest one when we lived in one town up in Maine

Right should have thought about that before I moved to Oregon. If I had gone to Florida I could have lowered my cost of living by not needing health insurance. Yet another of my poor choices.
