The toilets (oops sorry, restroom) that i went to in USA flushed before you even finished

I think someone else already said this. For Americans, using the word 'toilet' actually refers to the toilet, not the room it's located in.
As far as calling it a restroom, have you all been in some of the more posh dept. stores or malls? There are actually chairs, and sometimes sofas for you to sit/rest on (at least in the ladies room). Not that resting in there will be restful for your nose.

First time in the US, came out of the terminal dying for a leak and spent an hour standing right next to a door reading 'restroom' thinking it was for passengers to sit down and rest after their long flight. 
Finally in desperation rushed to assitance counter to ask where the toilet was...Felt soooo stupid...

When I was potty training my eldest daughter I had to carry the mini post-it note pads so I could stick one over the sensor, to stop it flushing while she was still sat on there. She still hates sensor toilets now and she has been potty trained over 2 years.

Afew years ago, I remember seeing a list of the different kinds of '#2' one could experience. I'd love to see the complete list if anybody has it. I remember a couple, viz:
the 'breezeblock' - the one that killed Elvis.
the 'right now' - you'd better be within 9 seconds of a toilet - usually has its head out before you get your pants down.
'the extra 'aromatic' - always happens at someone else's house and won't flush away either.
