("Going to spend a penny" always succeeds in confusing a good number of Americans as well)

My hubby sometimes says he's "going to point Percy at the porcelain!" Classy eh?

Back in my trolley dolly days at Gulf Air I heard some of the most obscure and random words for the toilet. Filipinos refer to it as the 'comfort room' or simply the CR but the funniest thing I heard was a very well presented elderly lady in business class who asked me in a very strong Indian accent, 'Madam, can I use the john?'

A few days ago a was in a "restroom" that did its name justice.. It had some kind of resting area with sofas, I was in Nordstrom.. I don't know what I was expecting my first time in the US when I saw the word restroom, but something more than a common toilet for sure..

I use that one - an Indian bloke I once shared a house with told me it meant "throne" in one of the many languages of India.

Roger Mellie's Profanisaurus has some great terms for going to the bog.

"Build a log cabin" was one of my faves!
