It works better than any detergent Mrs P has found. She was a life-long user of tide in the US but found that it simply wasn't getting the laundry clean anymore - to be blunt, clothes were coming out of the drier smelling like they needed to go into the washer. A switch to Persil has resolved the problem. :)

Maybe it's new to the West coast. My wife has never seen it in the stores here before.

I don't know exactly what deal was done, but Persil in the US is sold only by Walmart. I suspect that it is connected to Persil being a very popular laundry detergent in Mexico and Walmart having a major presence in Mexico, so looking to capture more business from Mexicans living in the US.

A big one is Hyundai, pronounced differently in US and UK. Whether either British or Americans have any idea how it's pronounced in Korea I don't know.
All I know is unless you pronounced town names/areas/streets flawlessly, the taxi drivers had no clue WTF you were on about. |

When I visited SK, I was reliably informed they pronounce it Hay-un-dai (as, like LG its a brand that does everything there, even shampoo).

I had that problem when I was discussing a New Orleans flight with Air France, they only understood if I pronounced it the french way.
Last time I flew Air France was 2012, and that was for work. I got held up in security checks (long story - involved mouthwash in a carry on), I made it to the gate with about 5 minutes to spare, but they wouldn't let me board because they shut the door early (the airplanes doors were still open as a member of the flight crew popped out). La Nouvelle Orléans?
Also when I was shipping a dog, I resigned to saying Dawg because the cargo guy at the airport didn't understand dog. Felt like I was making fun of his accent, but got the point across. |

You should have said 'the four legged barking thing that isn't a cat'. |

Target (online and in select stores.), Rite Aid, Kroger, K-Mart, CVS and others all sell it as well per the persil website for the US. Locate Online and Store Product Availability | Persil ProClean |
Re: Things you'll never say...
This news article from Sep 2015 says
Persil ProClean Power-Liquid 2in1 (currently at Walmart; rolling out to other retailers nationwide now) Looks like they started with Walmart, which makes sense as they are the largest retailer. Consumer Reports 1 Rated Detergent Persil I assume it phosphate free |

Re: Things you'll never say...
The West coast has banned phospates in most if not all cleaning products.
