This chocolate is really good, and it's $2 for 5 bars.

They have other stuff too, but whatever.

I used to buy this chocolate at Aldi when I lived in Switzerland. It is made in Germany. However there is an Aldi about 15 minutes from where I live (again) in New Jersey and it is a horrible grotty store, and sadly does not as many German/European products as I was hoping to find (although they do have own-brand 'Jaffa Cakes'). I wouldn't go out of my way to go shopping there again, especially as they don't sell booze.

OTOH in the USA, one 'arm' of Aldi owns Trader Joe's and there is a store in our town (sadly, again not selling booze, the last time a licence changed hands a few years ago it was $600k !). I love Trader Joe's and I wouldn't be surprised if their chocolate is made in the same factory as the 'Choceur' brand in Aldi. Anyway, Trader Joe's has crumpets and some regional British cheeses

Have you tried 'Green & Black's' chocolate? It's really nice, organic and I think it's made in Italy.

I was under the impression that the rival to Aldi, 'Lidl' was going to open some stores in the USA but I don't know if their plans ever got off the ground?

I like the dark chocolate that Trader Joe sells. Joe's also sells a nice tikki masala lamb curry and some genuine British cheese.

Haven't tried Aldis chocolate yet but hope to do so soon.

Trader Joe's is awesome. Their wine selection is really good and often the prices are lower than France. Recent example was a 2010 St Emilion for about $10 in TJ's. This wine is one of the best in the last 50 years or so. My French visitors told me you probably couldn't even buy it in a supermarket/local wine store in France. Rose wines from France and Italy for about $5...
Real french cheeses, proper prepared lentils, lovely creme fraiche.... I buy their enormous blocks of chocolate as a camping treat.

Aldi's is great for german christmas food goodies. There are 2 about 60 miles north of me in Belton and Brownville which I go to if I'm passing.

Got to love Aldi's. My US wife thinks it just another "discount" Grocery Store, and not European. I find very good deals there, like imported cheese. Very hit or miss though.

I love the Aldi here. It's clean and well stocked except for the meat special buys. Wed morning is the time to shop if you want the fresh meat special buy.

They usually have cheap grapes and something in season on sale. Their produce does not last so only buy what you will eat within a few days.

It's a great place to stock up on back to school food stuff like cereal, oatmeal, and snacks. If you or your kids camp they have the best prices on beef jerky and granola. Our favorite granola bar is the Sweet & Salty Nut Chocolatey Pretzel & Almond.

Fudge Mint Cookies aka generic Girl Scout Thin Mints. This is always my contribution to "bring something to share" events and they always disappear. $1.25 per box!

Specially Selected Fruit Spread. You have to check every label as they have raspberry and strawberry in the same box. It has chunks of fruit in it. It's sort of like Smucker's Simply Fruit.

Our store is always stocked with the canned goods that they carry. I buy a case of peaches, pears, pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges, unsweetened apple sauce, and tomato sauce every few months.

They have 2 types of 100% Whole Wheat Loaves and Sandwich Skinnys aka generic Sandwich Thins for around $2.

Their organic low sodium chicken broth is good if you make soup.

I buy most everything there except for ground beef, pastrami, roast beef, nuts, and Jiff peanut butter.

Wow, you just gave me a shopping list for next time LOL.

I agree, Aldis' is always clean, and there are good deals. Unfortunately, the location near me is an area that is...how do I say this...criminally challenged...so I won't go after dark.

Love the products though.

Sadly not in San Antonio. Even wrote to them and they said they were constantly reviewing potential locations so fingers crossed!
