No they are not. That first hideous object is definitely a jumper in British Eyes. My wife says if I ever catch her wearing one to give her a lethal injection. Sad thing is that people here actually like wearing the things! Eeeeekkk!!

Yep -- though technically you have to say "pinafore dress". A pinny is usually open in the back like an apron. (I've corrected my original post!)
