I didn't know Lie To Me had been cancelled :(:frown:

Well, now that season 1 has ended - what are people's opinions on Game of Thrones ?? The shock at the end of Episode 9 ?

I had the advantage of having read all 4 books published so far - book 5 coming out this month after a SIX year wait.....and GRRMartin reckons there will be 7 altogether!

The problem is - will the series run for long enough to cover it all? 1st Season = 1st book. Can't see it myself.:(

I found the books were brilliant, real "couldn't put it down" stuff - shocks, twists all the way....LOTR it ain't !!

Watched all episodes - still can't decide how I fee about the TV program. Is episode 9 where Ned got whacked? Or is that the one where the princess & the dragons survived the funeral pyre? Frankly, I expected the dragon eggs to hatch at some point - the hint was when she didn't burn her hands when she put the eggs in the fire in an earlier episode. Must admit to a bit of disgust at some scenes, i.e., 7-9 yr old nursing at mother's breast. My daughter agrees the books are great & wants to read all before she watches the TV series via Netflix. I'll probably read them after the series so I'll have faces in my mind for the characters. Worked great for 'Gone With The Wind' and 'Apaloosa'. :)

I would read the 1st book now - but stop at that - it may give you more insights into the characters - but as one who read all the books a few years ago I think the series has been very good.

It's typical of the author that a character who had 2 words in the 1st series ( and in the book I think) becomes more of a player later on.

Probably a good idea - I can get the 1st from my daughter! Thanks:D

Nothing about Torchwood yet. I guess it's in another thread. Pretty awful, I thought. I'll watch it all because I loved "Children of Earth", but I can't see this one taking the same risks.

Warehouse 13 was back last night. Looks like they recruited a Wayne Rooney look-a-like for some reason.

Anyone checking out Eureka? I kind of lost interest way way through last series...the time travel storyline was just shit.

It's downloaded, but haven't watched it yet. I have a BIG backlog building out. Damn this nice weather! We'll be back to our 9 month winter soon though.

Alphas...anyone check that out?

Sounds like a cross between Hero's, Lie to Me and big steaming pile of poo...so it might be shit, or okay and depending on which, will either run for ages or get canned in a critical story line :D

Okay so I tried NCIS again.

In the episode I just saw it was supposed to be Summer. So the people at the main building in Washington DC were in Summer clothes. One of the agents visited Canada. So when he video-phoned back to DC to tell everyone what he had found he was wearing Winter clothes including a snow hat with those goofy fold down ear flap things. You know - Canada clothes. I swear on the wall behind him was a photo of a Canadian Mountie.

Just to really nail on the foreigners stereotype that this show does expertly the main Mexican characters were seeking to avenge their father's death. No really. They even said it out loud at least twice during the episode in the most ridiculous soap opera manner. My favorite one being when a man reminded his sister that "we must avenge our fathers death" and then - like a real man - crushed a piece of paper in his hand. I bet they used CGI and a stuntman for that.

Well it was shit.

So no doubt, I'll keep watching a few more episodes :D

The storyline was stupid...people messing with other peoples brains, making them do stuff, the murder in a locked, closed off room for a start.

The thing is, the characters are rather naff and annoying and I'm not really liking the style they're going with.

At least Haven is coming back fro a second series this Friday :)
