So they did actually make it how it was originally drank, the British adopted it from their colony .
This is how most Indian people drank tea that I knew growing up in Brum when we went to their houses

I was out and about and fancied a Cuppa - now I have come to an agreement with myself that although in certain coffee houses I can get a cup of tea - its not going to be the same as back home - thats fine, I can cope with that..
Starbucks do 'Awake' tea - I can cope with that.. Anyway Imagine my joy when I walked into a small local coffee shop and see that on the counter they have English Breakfast tea!! However, the first question the girl asks me is if i would like it hot or cold..! Deep breath.. Hot, I say.
Then the girl hands me my cup of tea and I ask if she could take some of the water out so I can add milk... just then i notice something bobbing up and down in the cup... I said "is that hot water" she says.. "yes.. but I put a few ice cubes in it because the water is very hot" WHAT?????!!!!

I tried to educate two people at work with some PG Tips.
First one - lactose intolerant so needed soy milk. We both smelt it and it smelt like crap. She tried it, then added sugar, tried it again and no real improvement.
Second - quietly sipped it and smiled a bit. I could tell he didn't like it
Unfortunately, this was all in polystyrene cups. Must remember my fine bone china next time

A bit of sweetener, sugar or honey, if I don't feel well, I can take.
But milk.... nope.
I prefer my coffee black, but milk and sugar doesn't bother me, just not my fave. But it seems like it might belong.
Milk in my tea - there is no china in existance that can fix that
OK, I do like the UK brands of tea though...

Somehow, milk in tea just seems wrong (sorry you all, I'm sure that's sacrilege).

A drop of COLD milk in tea is the norm in the UK.. I'd prefer the hot steamy frothy milk to be saved for a cappucino!!
LL - it was regular 'awake' tea.. not a chai tea..
