Susan Boyle taken to the Priory

Re: Susan Boyle taken to the Priory
So is describing someone as having "mild learning difficulties" just the new way to describe someone who is a bit simple ??Interested to hear your opinion seeing as you are a professional in the field. It seems reasonable to me that someone in Susan Boyle's position might crack up after her experiences in the past few months
Is the learning difficulties thing being thrown out there just as an excuse, and if so isn't that a bit off ie "don't worry about her freaking out, she is a spaz so it is only to be expected".

If you can't be bothered with all of that, then just stick with "spaz" or "spacker".

Really don't appreciate this one bit. I'm assuming you are in control of all your faculties. There's no excuse for this.

I never used those terms either but can't see what the hell was wrong with "mentally handicapped" and cant see whats wrong with "retarded" either. Retarded just means what it says on the tin...held back.

I always liked 'simpleton', it has so much more of a Hans Christian Anderson feel to it

She's high strung and weird like a lot of creative (and some not so creative) people. I think I'd prefer to be known worldwide as being "difficult" or "eccentric" rather than somebody with "learning disabilities" or "learning difficulties" who was deprived of oxygen at birth. Now instead she'll be forever known as the retard that had the spaz attack when she didn't win BGT.
