Stereotypes

So what stereotypes about Americans and America have you found to be true (and false)?

Re: Stereotypes

I have found that the stereotype that all Americans are the same is false ...

There are real people like Beavis and Butthead & Bill and Ted.

Lots of them are REALLY fat.

Re: Stereotypes

They do have a tendency to call the whole of the British Isles 'London'.

There are a few idiots and lots of nice people, just as in the UK.

I do the reverse of that to annoy my wife. Every time an English person is on the TV and she asks me where they are from, I just say 'London'

I may have generalised a bit.

There's also London Town, Scartland and Downton Abbey.

I think I might be the only person in the world who couldn't give less of a shit about Downton Abbey if I had my arse sewn closed. I don't understand the fascination with it out here

They stereo types they have about us are still going strong. I meet plenty of people in my job. I've lost count of the amount of Dick Van Dyke impressions I've heard now. I phoned up a talk radio station the other day as I was a little bored. As soon as I was off the air, cue the DVD impressions LOL.

You're not the only one. Have costume drama, will win awards just because it is a costume drama.

Why is that the kitchen staff always have a west country accent on costume dramas? Is it written in "Costume Drama Directing for Dummies"?
