From SoCal to Philly. Any advice?
Seriously considering a move to the “suburbs” of Philly next spring. As much as we love SoCal, the same same weather, the time/flight distance home to the uk and the fact $500k won’t even get you a dump in south central anymore has us looking for something a bit more family and budget friendly.
any recommendations advice or thoughts for a late 30s couple with a toddler and one more likely soon it’s way? We have at least a 5yr plan to stay put.
Things we value:
character propertys (mid size/1500sqft is fine)
walkable neigbourhoods w/ funky/indie shops bars and restaurants
family friendly location/events
diverse/educated/cultured neighbours
good elementary schools
on main line/easy to get into the city (not for Work)
green and trees - parks/trails etc close by is great
not looking for house links but for a rough idea we would like to get a 3/4bed house with character within a budget of $400-600 (ideally) and commute is a non-issue.

You might want to check out Lancaster County area, specifically Lititz, PA. It's comfortable driving distance to Philly (or take the train) plus NY and DC are easily accessible.
