How do they know that the cat cannot "speak and understand English"? Just because it chooses not to speak to them in English doesn't mean that it can't ...

Putting the pet on the census because its "part of the family" should excuse the whole family from serving jury duty on the grounds of excessive dipshittedness.

I just looked at the form, you can find it online in a PDF, and there is no pets section, as far as I can see. I would have remembered that, as at the time of the census, we had 7 tropical fish and I'd have remembered if I had to enter them all on the form. Not sure where Mrs. Esposito is coming from??

So its your fault if there aren't enough federal resources allocated to tropical fish facilities in your area due to flagrant understatement on the census. Shame on you!

Yep, it's a hoax. I looked up a few articles in Google News about it and one of them had comment which pointed this out and linked to a newspaper article reporting the exact same story around this time last year.

The Americans could add to the mix (currently electric chair - firing squad - lethal injection.) "Batted about and toyed with by feline jury member until you are well dead."

Local MA census does indeed have a section for pets, though you list number of dogs/cats and a box for others.

Something like a $15 annual license per dog/cat or if neutered/spayed, it's around $10.

You mean, MA has its own census, unrelated to the US census? Or the US Census has additional questions in some states, for instance a question on pets for Massachusetts?

I have no idea if it was a separate state, or US extras, but when it came, there was a question on the number of cats/pets.

It must be a state thing thinking about it though because every year, people also get sent a voter registration thing and you're to confirm household residents, those who can vote and the number of cats/dogs you own.

Includes a slip where you can pay your town for the annual pet licenses too.

Yes, when I search I find a lot of town annual census forms from Ma - here's an example. Each one is different but they all have the pet information section! So this is not a hoax, but one of those peculiar Massachusetts things. Funny, we lived in MA for many years and I don't remember it..
