Just a splash of olive oil it stops the pasta sticking together.
Oh and what's for tea then?

Yep - I do this and it seems to work. I also put a dash of olive oil on the pasta once it's cooked and I've drained the water. It also stops it sticking together while you're serving.

FFS You dont NEED to add the oil, its basically for people that havent got the nouse to realise that while the pasta is cooking you should boil up a kettle full of water. When the pastas al dente pour into a strainer and pour the boiling water over the pasta. Its the natural starches the are released during cooking that makes the pasta stick together and the boiling water washes
that off. Oil is cheating and for lazy bastards.
I use oil.

I don't use oil, I think it makes the sauce taste oily

I don't use oil. I drain the pasta and add my sauce. I find that the sauce sticks better to the pasta better because of the starches.

No for me. In fact the rough cut pasta is better.

But if I use oil, will my gravy stick to the pasta or will the oil make it slide off?

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Can't really tell much of a difference either way.
