Sentimental Shipping

Hi

I havent posted on here for yonks but have a quick question that I know I'll get sound advice on from the peeps in here.

I need to ship 1 table from the UK to the US. I know you're thinking one table what's the point, but it's been in the family a long time and so has a lot of sentimental value. So, I am trying to figure out the best way to get it here without it costing a kings ransom.

Does any one know of a shipping company that they would recomend? Or an alternative way of getting it over here?

Thanks!

Long shot - but find someone moving to where you are from where you were and ask if they have room in their container ?

We were very happy with our shipping company - Sterling Relocation but didn't pay for the shipping so didn't pay much attention to their costs.

ohhhhhh That's such a sensible suggestion - not sure how easy it would be and if you would trust just anyone with your prize table, but what a good idea!!

We used Brittania, our shipping ordeal turned into a farce, so no I wouldn't recommend them :sneaky:

How large is it? Might be able to crate it up and get Fed-ex etc to send it over, probably won't be cheap but might be easier than getting it shipped?

Welcome back, stranger! ;)

No idea about the table I'm afraid...

Again, depending on size, air cargo might be a possibility. Most of the big airlines have separate cargo websites, eg https://www.aacargo.com/

Okay thanks all. Didnt think of air cargo. Its not overly large but too large to fed ex.

And I dont know anyone moving from there to here and as we're hopefully shipping out East again ourselves we're in a rush to get the table here so we can ship all out again in one go.

We are using Doree Bonner to ship our stuff and our up to date estimate has now turned into possibly 11 weeks so I wouldn't recommend them. I would probably go down the route of air freight cargo. Don't know how much it would cost but it would certainly get your table here quicker. :)
