done

I am curious, as I have just been on your wife's website and I was reading her bio etc. was Art something she delved back into once you were both over here?? I see she studied Art in Yorkshire, but was wondering if it was the move over here that gave her the opportunity to get back into it - if so that is pretty cool!

I also love her current stuff, the images of the trees is so amazingly clever! and so effective.

I am a bit of an art lover :o and my friend has a painting on her wall that I really like, done by a friend of theirs, it is a dragonfly which is painted in 100's of little squares - so clever!!

Absolutely! Ali turned the disappointment of leaving her job in the UK and not being able to work here on an H4 visa into an opportunity to return to art and, once we had our green cards, to pursue painting as a career. She's not looked back since!

That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool!!!!

When I was here on an H4 I LOVED being able to do painting (of a very low standard compared to Alison) and making cards etc.. I relished the opportunity to do the stuff that work had got in the way of!! It is so impressive that from the "devils visa" this amazing path has begun!!

I voted, they're pretty impressive.

P.S. dbj you do realise you're ruining your reputation as an "Arrogant ****" with all your effusive fawning in this thread. ;)

Voted and I like "The Painted Tree" on the flickr stream, as we're all going on about the paintings

My last artwork was done 30 years ago using a potato with holes cut in it :(

I'm looking at The Painted Tree right now, hanging on the wall across from my desk. Ali hasn't even put it up for sale, because she didn't think anyone but her would like it! :)

It's pretty impressive - at 40"x40" it's MUCH bigger than it looks on Flickr!

Thanks to you all, Ali's up to 163 votes, and her average star rating is starting to recover from the first few days :)

By the way, MANY people (not just a couple of BE-ers) ended up rating her one star at the start because of their silly webpage design...

...or because they really don't like her self portraits!

Oh, we're not worried about it :)

In the end, the final decision will still come down to the judges, I think.
