No, not wishful thinking just different.

Care to explain how it is not wishful thinking?

Those jobs in tourism are increasingly being taken up by minimum wage Europeans.

A taste of things to come.

"The pound tumbled in early trading after support for Scottish independence took the lead for the first time in YouGov's polling.
Sterling suffered its biggest intra-day loss in over a year, sliding to $1.6150 against the dollar, its lowest point since November. This follows last week’s decline of 0.7pc as support for the “Yes” campaign continued to rise."

I have just been getting the impression that Salmond is just pushing for independence because he likes the idea of being called "President Salmond". Makes him feel important.

Still not a peep on where all those jobs will come from.

And it's utter naivety to ignore the potential job losses and reduced business investment that will result.

I don't understand why there'll be an increase in tourism. What's going to be so different that more people will want to go there?

Maybe Scotland will look different, and the weather will be better?

So they live in a bubble, don't contribute to the local economy and aren't part of the community?

Any economist will tell you that a facility like that, with well paid technical jobs, creates ten times as many jobs "outside" as the number employed directly. This is through support contracts for services, and then the employees spending their own money in shops, restaurants, and with service providers such as car dealers, home repair and improvement contractors, etc.

I am beginning to think that you either really don't have a clue, or are just a troll.

Right, because an independent Scotland will get a fairer allocation of sunshine once Westminster is out of the picture.

BBC World Service interview with a Glasgow shipbuilding union rep this morning. Only had half an ear on it, but they seemed to be concerned about losing a 250mill investment in the yards, and a future lack of orders from the RN in the event of independence, therefore were encouraging a No vote from their members.

Don't hold your breath for an answer on that one... I asked about 60 pages ago, and still waiting for something other than "reduced airport tax".....

Maybe the Scottish Tourist Board are developing a secret new line of haggis with added ingredients to appeal to a wider audience.......cinnamon for the yanks, garlic for the french, jalapeno for our southern neighbours, curry for our subcontinental brethren etc etc.

"The No camp have nothing to offer Scotland - and Alistair Darling has repeatedly failed to name any job creating powers that would come to Scotland in the event of a No vote. This is not good enough - we need access to the full suite of economic powers to strengthen and grow the Scottish economy.
John Swinney
