Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Faeroes and a few odd bits and pieces such as Vatican and Kaliningrad.

That does not seem like too bad a club to join. Actually Scotland has quite a bit in common in some ways.
Although Alex Salmond likes to keep saying Scotland is like Norway, they don't have much in common at all. Taxation in Norway is astronomical, too. He keeps forgetting to mention that.

Even less so with the rest of that list - Switzerland? Vatican?

I'm confused now. Does an Independent Scotland want to be part of the EU, yes or no?

As far as I'm aware, yes that is the intention. Although why you'd go to all this trouble to gain independence and then hurl yourself into the clutches of the EU is beyond me.

I thought that was the case, but given the "it wouldn't be bad to be in a club with the Faeroes and Kaliningrad" line, I wasn't so sure...maybe I missed the sarcasm smilie....

I guess if the tax is cut, they will need to find somewhere else to raise it to make up for the shortfall without cutting services. Was there provision for that in his projected budget, or was the back of his fag packet full?
They make up tax cut from increased tourism and more jobs, its not marevellous its plain simple. What I hated about living in the UK was the taxes, you are taxed to the hilt to keep the rich happy and pay for things like Trident.Every budget was so predictable ,a penny on pint,20p on cigs ,20p on a litre of petrol, nothing new or radical just the same old same.An Indy Scotland has a chance of doing things much more different than the old tired ways.

All the English people are going to love traveling in and out using the tax free airports that are being funded by Scottish tourism.

A lot of wishful thinking here. I see no reason why independence would lead to "increased tourism and more jobs" absent other fundamental economic changes. Given that Scotland spends more per-capita on social programs than does the UK as a whole, it would be hard pressed to keep taxes at current levels, let alone decrease them.

What jobs? Where?

Mining? Steel? Shipbuilding? Electronics? Farming?

Any graduates worth their salt will be getting the hell out of Dodge to seek greener pastures.

And what about the thousands who'll be laid off when they get rid of Trident?
And the knock on effect on the local communities.

This stupid "plan" would devastate Scotland.

And the banks and investment companies too. Sure, it will take time, but the management and high-paid jobs will be heading south of the border fairly quickly.

More jobs in tourism and the "thousands of jobs " Scotland would lose if Trident sails south just is not true. The majority of the workforce at Faslane come from outwith the local community or are naval personnel.
