Wouldn't the Bank of England need to agree to continue underwriting the British pound for it to be of any value in Scotland?

I think Belize has its currency pegged to the US dollar too. When we went there, you could use either US dollars or Belize dollars, fixed at two Belize dollars to one US.

The Daily Record has a report on a poll from YouGov saying the same, the YES campaign is slightly in front now.

I'm unclear as to why a simple majority by only Scotland allows it to break away from the UK. Was that an agreement signed 400 years ago when Scotland became part of the UK?

Yes but the YouGov poll is only one of many and the only poll giving a yes majority, which is within the error limits so it may not be a majority at all.

I love my country dearly but I fear economic ruin and a relegation to the backwaters with minimal influence on the worldwide stage, where strong partnerships are needed.
Wee Eck has not provided convincing answers as to where Scotland's prosperity and security will come from if Independence is attained.

North Sea Oil is infinite, tourism is going to soar once free of the shackles of Westminster, and the Whiskey industry is going to stumble on a cure for cancer (well, actually, they already have, but Westminster won't let them tell anyone, so mums the word, eh?). Then he is going to cure unemployment by sending out road gangs to turn all the signs around, because they are all going to have to start driving on the other side, didn't you know?
And anyone who says otherwise is a scaremonger, a scaremonger I tell ye.
And if that doesn't work, he'll revert to type and blame Westminster, who, in a fit of rage at "losing" ;-) the referendum, will obviously be operating monetary policy to maximise damage and destruction to the fledgling independent economy, to teach them a jolly good lesson. Well, Westminster or the EU for not bending the rules and allowing them in without access to a Central Bank function.
