For mash get Smash

Shakmaty reminded me of "Nice people - nice prices - International" - hadn't heard that for decades now it keeps running through my mind.

Birds Eye peas - Patsy Kensit as a child with finger in mouth doing the "pop" sound. Must be about 30 years old.

But I don't think hot dogs were invented then.

I worked for Ross Foods, a div of Imperial Tobacco and they also owned a large potato operation nr Peterborough - raw spuds, frozen chips and other allied products. They decided to target the crisp market and launched Golden Wonder in a very clever way. They took single column inch ads in the major national and regional papers that said simply 'Golden Wonder is coming'. That was all but they ran for several weeks. Nobody had a clue what that even meant and there was all kinds of speculation/ buzz about it - new tobacco brand etc. Of course, they were working behind the scenes to gain distribution with Tesco, Pricerite etc......
When they came on the market, they quickly grabbed about 50% of it and it was GW, I believe, who brought flavours like Cheese and Onion to crisps for the first time. Until that time Smiths had one flavor that came with the little twisty bag of salt, remember?
