Redneck Riviera
Just been at the cinema where I had the misfortune to overhear the conversation between two forty-something ladies behind me telling each other what a wonderful time they had a-in Florida and how they dream of going to live in the USofA. I should have given them Pulaski's address and suggested they have a look at something far away from the Redneck Riviera which now, together with Las Vegas, has become the dream destination of upwardly-mobile Scots.Next time I am at Glasgow Airport I must go and look at the passengers boarding the direct flight to Las Vega, The mind boggles.
Where is the next boom destination ? Eureka Springs, Arkansas ?

The so-called 'Redneck Riviera' refers to the Myrtle Beach area, NOT Florida!

I stand corrected. I have not made my reservation this year.
I had heard the expression used to refer to the area in the Florida Panhandle around Pensacola.

The Gulfport-Biloxi area of Mississippi is also referred to as the Redneck Riviera. America is truly blessed to have so many cultural meccas.

And the second cousins of the Rednecks are those wifies in the Scottish cinema I heard singing the praises of the Panhandle. Or was it Miami ?

As an American, I have to say that I can't fathom why Europeans seem to be enamored with Florida. The day that I spent in Tampa was the longest month of my life.

Well it's better than living in Luton. Come to think of it, anywhere is better than living in Luton

Just a reminder to keep this group on the straight and narrow most of the Rednecks in this country are ethnically Scot-Irish or English.

Rednecks are just slightly worse dressed chavs, if you could even imagine such a thing, but since they all live over here and not over there, we're stuck with them. Irritating, worthless pieces of shit that they are.
