There's nothing absurd about a routine blood pressure check. High BP is not called the silent killer for nothing. There must a few million people walking around in this country who don't know they have hypertension just as there are a few million who are unaware that they have type 2 diabetes.
When the symptoms start to appear it's generally a bit too late. The old saying "a stitch in time" very much applies to healthcare and treatment
